Hotel had previously been part of Pousada Group and standards of accommodation have been maintained and are very good. Location excellent for those interested in Almeida.
Very few guests when we were there, we were the only people in the Restaurant for dinner, and the food was disappointing. Breakfast was fine.

This hotel, just inside the 17th century (and older) walls of the star fortress is quite modern and comfortable. The views of the countryside are marvelous and peaceful and the terrace deck is a great place to enjoy wine and a nice breeze with those views. Our room had a nice balcony porch where we could enjoy a drink. The hotel is within walking distance of everything in this small attractive town. The staff, led by the very nice Mrs. Almeida, is friendly and very willing to please.
With a hotel this modern, it seems they should have an elevator to the second floor. Also, while the restaurant has nice decor and good views, the food did not quite live up to what you would expect.

We had a fantastic evening at Fortaleza De. The dinner menu offered a great selection, and the grilled sole with boiled potatoes was cooked to perfection. The dessert buffet was absolutely magnificent, and the wines were both tasty and reasonably priced. Plus, the staff were all friendly and helpful throughout our stay. I highly recommend this hotel.

This is a Parador so it is bound to be good. However, for 90 euro per night, I would expect my balcony to have been cleaned within the last month, the shower fitting to work and the plumbing not to vibrate, what seemed like every hour- on the hour through the night. Wonderful location and the pub just outside the town gate does great traditional food at a very good price,

Beautiful location in the centre of a Renaissance Fortification.
Nothing really adverse to say.

Spent xmas in a historic border town with lovely public and room spaces. The terrace was great for a drink and the balcony in the room was a real bonus. Enjoyed the menu which was more imaginative than typical Portuguese fare. Liked the fact that fittings and furniture belonged to the 70s era.
The breakfast was very lacking in imagination for a hotel of this standard. The scramble eggs were served cold and the house wine should be of a higher standard. The air condition in the room was very noisy.

Staff is very warm and always willing to help
The breakfast is the worst one I have ever seen. Bad coffee. No orange juice. Only a few things to choose from. Could be improved.

We loved staying at this hotel. The location inside the fortress was amazing. We felt like we were stepping back in time as we explored the historic town. The service from the staff was exceptional. They were welcoming, friendly, and proud of their Portuguese heritage. The room was big and comfortable, with all the amenities we needed, including free wifi. We also enjoyed the delicious breakfast served by the super friendly breakfast staff.
We recommend this hotel to everyone.

Located inside a historic fort, this hotel offers a unique experience that transports you back in time. The architecture is impressive and the rooms are spacious with balconies that offer great views of the surrounding area. The staff is friendly and attentive, making your stay as comfortable as possible.
Since the hotel is located off of the beaten path, it can be quite empty at times, leading to understaffing and slower service. However, this can also be seen as an advantage as it creates a quiet and peaceful atmosphere that is perfect for relaxation.
